Welcome to the Canada Cup of Hockey website
This website is dedicated to the Canada Cup. It includes information on the Canada Cup hockey tournament, including stories, photos, results, and statistics.
Following the Summit Series in 1972 and 1974, the world would finally see the nations of Canada, Czechoslovakia, Finland, the Soviet Union, Sweden, the United States and West Germany compete with all their best players for the first time. Unlike in the World Championships the Canada Cup tournament would be the only time all the top hockey nations would compete with NHL players representing their respective countries.
The hockey loving public would have to wait seven years after the end of the last Canada Cup (in 1991), before NHL players would again represent their countries at the highest level in what would be the Canada Cup re-born - the World Cup 1996.
